How can I find decision-maker contacts at a fund manager?

How to find decision-maker contacts at private fund managers

For administrators, auditors, law firms and technology vendors: match the private fund manager to the right adviser record, check which business contacts 9AT holds, and confirm the role before outreach.

In brief

  1. Confirm the adviser and the role you need before searching for people.
  2. Open the matching free 9AT summary and choose Contacts where available.
  3. Contact access is arranged with the 9AT team, starting with a demo; existing customers sign in. Coverage varies by adviser.
  4. Check each record against the correct firm and confirm the current role before outreach.

See this in 9AT

Start with a qualified prospect and the service you want to discuss. A contact list helps you find people to investigate; a title alone does not establish who chooses a fund's administrator, auditor, law firm or technology vendor.

Confirm you have the right adviser

Match the firm's legal name, business name and identifiers before looking at people. A brand can cover several advisers or related companies.

  • Legal and business names: Form ADV Items 1.A and 1.B distinguish them.
  • SEC file number: an 801- number identifies an SEC-registered adviser; an 802- number identifies an exempt reporting adviser.
  • CRD number: Item 1.E identifies the adviser separately from its SEC file number.
  • Entity scope: confirm whether a result refers to the adviser, a relying adviser under an umbrella filing or a wider corporate group.

A HedgeFundDB adviser profile can help establish the match before you continue to 9AT. For prospect qualification, use the comparison guide.

See who the adviser's Form ADV names

Form ADV Part 1A, SEC 1707 (07-24), collects information about executive officers and direct owners in Schedule A, with amendments through Schedule C. Relying advisers report their officers and owners in Schedule R.

These disclosures can provide context about a firm's leadership. Schedule A does not provide an email list. Items 1.J and 1.K concern compliance and regulatory contacts, whose responsibilities do not automatically include buying your service.

The SEC identifies IAPD as the public source for the most recent Form ADV. Information collected on a form is not necessarily displayed in full in a public report. Use the disclosed role as context and confirm the person's current responsibilities through the firm or another current professional source.

Check the adviser's contacts in 9AT

HedgeFundDB publishes no personal contact details. Its adviser profiles link to the same adviser's free summary in 9AT. Business contacts are not part of that free summary: access to them is arranged with the 9AT team, starting with a demo, and existing 9AT customers sign in.

  1. Open the adviser's free 9AT summary. Use the 9AT link on the adviser's HedgeFundDB profile, where available, or find the firm through 9AT's adviser search.
  2. Confirm the match. Compare the firm and identifiers with the adviser you intended to research. A business name can differ from the legal name.
  3. Arrange contact access. Where the summary shows a Contacts tab, it leads a visitor without an account to sign-in: a free summary does not make the contact information free. If your team does not have contact access yet, request a demo; the 9AT team arranges access from there. Existing 9AT customers sign in.

Coverage varies by adviser, and the role or adviser you need may have few contacts or none. 9AT's FAQ says that some contacts lack email addresses and that 9AT provides LinkedIn profile links for many contacts. A listing is not a guarantee of a particular role, a working email address or buying authority.

Worked example: ARMISTICE CAPITAL LLC

This example uses public firm identity only. It includes no individual's contact details or contact counts.

HedgeFundDB's ARMISTICE CAPITAL LLC profile identifies the adviser by SEC file number 801-100464. The SEC's IAPD firm summary shows the same legal name with CRD 168978 and SEC file number 801-100464. The profile's contacts section links to the 9AT summary for that same identifier.

In the September 26, 2026 browser check, the summary's Contacts tab led a signed-out visitor to sign-in. The example demonstrates that boundary between a public firm summary and account access. It does not establish which contacts a customer with contact access will see.

Coverage, freshness and outreach

Whatever list a contact comes from, check the record before you rely on it.

  • Confirm the scope. A result associated with a group or affiliate is not automatically a contact at the exact adviser you selected.
  • Check freshness. People move between firms and change responsibilities. 9AT's FAQ defines a contact's added or edited date as the date the contact was added to its database or the contact's details were changed, so the date describes the database record, not a guarantee that the person's role was recently verified. Keep it separate from the adviser's filing date.
  • Qualify the role. Seniority or an executive title does not prove responsibility for selecting your service. Confirm current responsibilities through the firm's own website or another current professional source before deciding whom to approach.
  • Follow your outreach policy. Apply your firm's rules for using business contact data and contacting prospects.

To understand a fund's reported administrator or auditor before approaching it, use the provider lookup guide. The filing records those roles, but not the fund's law firm or technology vendors.

Where to start in 9AT

With contact access, 9AT's Contacts search narrows contacts by role and by the contact information available. In the example below, C-Suite Titles is expanded with CFO selected, and Contact Info with Email Address selected. These filters alone do not limit the search to private fund managers: add adviser or fund criteria for the firms you have qualified, and confirm each firm with the checks above.

Contacts are not part of the free adviser summary. Customers signed in with contact access can open the contact search directly; for other teams, access is arranged with the 9AT team, starting with a demo. Availability varies by adviser.
